Almost
April 10 2012
Living in a bubble
With thee intended
Love of my life
(who was to be the last)
Who’s now further away
Than ever
Every effort
Every ounce of patience
And perseverance
Dissolved ironically
In a flood of long sought
Clear headed emotions
I am now damned
By my own altruism
And tenacious love
We almost had everything
Almost.

Henceforth and NEVER …
(follow up to Henceforth and Forever)
May 28 2012
But the nightmare will continue …
There was a rapture
There was and is a usurper
Within his undeserved arms
You now lay
And lie
The same lies
Laid on me
As you lay with me
The promise of a lifetime
“One thousand and ninety five years”
Abolished with callousness
And complacence
Over shadowed by
Anothers lust and passion
And not held together
By the strength and logic of ours.

Dry Eyes in a Low Lit Room
Dec 18 2011
A single candle lit in vigil
Now dozens upon dozens
Every night you wander
Farther from my arms and
Further into oblivion
The sombre flames flicker
Across bare walls
On which images of a
True life together should display
What faint light and little warmth
That fill this void
Illuminate the shadows
That persist
And draw notice to the
Questions that remain
This light will burn on
Gradually brightening this darkness
The vigil will continue
And my love will persevere
Ad infinitum
These candles only to be extinguished
By the tears I refuse to shed.

Henceforth and Forever
May 28 2012
Last night I had a dream
That we finally woke up
From this nightmare
Of addiction and separation
We stirred and awoke
In each others arms
Naked and pressed together
Just as we had fallen asleep
Gazing into each others eyes
Across our slumber-shared pillow
We sigh
We breathe
Our lips lock in a passionate
Familiar and
Forgiving kiss
All sins and indiscretions absolved
And we laugh with tears of relief
Welling in our eyes…
We are again together…
Maybe never truly apart …
But now together as we should be
Henceforth and forever.

Waiting Lost
30-10-97
Like an empty vase waiting for water
So its flowers may once again
Flourish and bloom
Like a dog waiting for his master
To bring him a bone in reward
For his loyalty
Like a hungry stomach waiting for a
Meal to fulfill its appetite
Like a piano waiting for melody
To grace its strings
In symphony and glory
Like an accident waiting to happen
Like two countries on the
Verge of war
Like dreams waiting to be
Shattered and
Hearts to be broken
I sit here waiting for Her…
… the dog remains alone,
The stomach empty,
The piano silent --
Gathering dust
The accident happens and
The war breaks out
Dreams are shattered and
Hearts are broken
And the flowers
In the vase
Slowly
Wilt.
